Chiang Mai International Airport (IATA: CNX, ICAO: VTCC), is the most important international airport serving Chiang Mai, the capital city of Chiang Mai, and the main gateway to the north of Thailand.


The airport is located is 4 kilometers southwest of downtown Chiang Mai. It is an important touristic gateway in the north of Thailand. It is owned by Royal Thai Air Force and is a mix of Public and Military use.  In 2014 some upgrades were placed, including the extension of operating hours to 24/7 and enlarging the international arrival hall and domestic departure hall.

 

The airport serves as a hub for the following airlines: Bangkok Airways, Nok Air, Thai AirAsia and Thair Smile. 

Is the fourth busiest airport in the country in terms of passenger traffic. During 2019, Chiang Mai Airport handled more than 11,000,000 passengers.

TIP: The city center is very close to the terminal, so probably the best option is to take a taxi or a tuk-tuk.

Taxi: Get within 20 minutes to downtown by taxi. Take into account that taxis don’t cross Chiang Mai City.
